THIS PAST DECEMBER, WE CELEBRATED
15 YEARS
IN SERVICE TO CYCLING AND COMMUNITY

PLEASE SEE OUR RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT BELOW

To everything there is a season  . . .

 Friends,
It is with no small sense of nostalgia, and excitement for adventures to come, that we announce our retirement. Green Bay Cycles will be closing February 28, 2026.
It has been our privilege to be a part of this neighborhood for the past 15 years. We opened a business and found a community. You all have added joy and fullness to our lives and we couldn’t be more grateful for your friendship and patronage over the years. We have celebrated milestones great and small with all of you; first bikes, going off to college bikes, dad bikes, mom bikes, and riding into the sunset bikes. We have also supported one another in times of sadness, loss and strife. Our shop family has seen entrances and exits over the years, and each person has left a bit of themselves in our care and taken a piece of our hearts in return. We are incredibly lucky to be spending these final months in the excellent company of John, Anatoliy, Meghan, Luke and Jake, and we can’t wait to see what is in store for each of them next. In short, it has been a life complete and we are so grateful for every minute of it.
Why now? First, and foremost, we are ready. While it’s true that no one ever gets rich owning a bike shop, we have both been working since our very early teens and have managed to prepare ourselves for an enjoyable next chapter while we are still young enough to play on the floor and roll in the leaves with our grandchildren and, yes, ride our bikes and go fishing. Additionally, our landlord has told us that the building is currently under contract, and our lease is up March 1, 2026. Without knowing what the buyer’s plans may be for the building, we have simply decided that this is the right time. It is also why we have chosen not to sell the business; selling a brick-and-mortar business without the brick and mortar part just doesn’t make sense. Finally, the cycling industry has been in a state of near perpetual upheaval for the past five years between COVID, economic uncertainty and tariffs. Add to that the increased reliance on online shopping we have seen across our society and in our own business, and the landscape has become incredibly stressful to navigate. Bottom line, we have always said, “it’s a bike shop, if it isn’t fun to work here, there’s something wrong.” We want to make our exit while we can still find the fun.
In the coming months, we will be closing out our inventory – everything in stock is currently 20% off – while we continue to provide the excellent, expert, friendly service you have always relied upon. We look forward to seeing you for holiday bikes and gifts (we are still Santa’s Midwest Distribution Hub after all), when you stop by on your rides and dog walks and for your early spring tune-ups (just remember to pick your bike up before February 28!). Of course, there will also be a party – mark your calendars for Saturday, December 13. We will have a holiday open house from 5 until 7:30pm.
It’s been a great ride and we look forward to seeing all of you on the road.

With fondness and gratitude,
Larry & Pam

Meet the Team

Larry Faulkner

Owner / Founder / Head Mechanic

Larry has always believed that the most important customer he has is the one right in front of him. That is the ethic he uses to set the tone at Green Bay Cycles every day.  Retired from the US Navy after 20 years as an aircraft mechanic, there is virtually nothing he can't fix.

Just like her name, Pedal is always under our feet. She loves people of all shapes and sizes, but - sadly - is not a fan of other dogs, so she works from home most days in the summer.

You may notice her featured prominently on some of our jersey designs.

Chief (z''l)

2014-2024

Chief was a big lover. He specialized in meeting and greeting, but napping was his true favorite.

He was a sweet man and a beloved member of our family. He was also an excellent ambassador for GBC and the wonderful folks at Chicago French Bulldog Rescue.

He will live on in our hearts forever.
